AMERICAN RETRO IS BACK TO HER WINNING WAYS
WINCHESTER PLACE THOROUGHBREDS, LLC’S AMERICAN RETRO won her first race of the year February 24 in Gulfstream Park’s 7 th race going a mile on the turf. Coming off a four and a half month layoff, RETRO raced in the middle of the pack boxed-in with nowhere to go until things opened up at the top of the stretch and away she went, running down pacecetter Demogorgan and holding off a charging favorite Hola Gata who finished second. Demogorgan held on for third. Having only 6 lifetime races to date, 4 year-old AMERICAN RETRO has won 2 of them and 3 times has placed second. Making the switch from dirt to turf, we are hoping that this daughter of American Pharoah, out of the Giant’s Causeway mare Retro, will continue on her winning ways. AMERICAN RETRO was ridden by JORGE RUIZ and is trained by IAN WILKES.
